To a young adult training for their first half marathon?
They seem to be doing very well on their own, but would enjoy the social/motivational aspect of a coach and/or club/class. |
Look for a half marathon clinic or training group working towards the same race if it is local. Running stores will be able to point you in the direction of a few. I am not familiar with these specific ones below, but they came up with a quick google as examples:
https://www.fleetfeet.com/s/dc/training https://www.dcroadrunners.org/training/10mile-half.html (this one has closed because they are working towards the March RnR race, but this type of group is what you want) A coach or trainer will not be very good value for a first half marathon. I'd instead recommend picking an appropriate Hal Higdon plan based on the weekly mileage they were already doing, and find a local free running club to run with 1-2 days per week that fits within the plan. |
I found my running coach on coach.com. He is weird but he personalizes my runs and I have gotten so much faster and better since working with him. It’s pretty cheap to hire one on there. |
Thank you! |
&Running is a running studio with classes and training (both indoor and outdoor) in Fulton (near Laurel/Columbia). The Fulton shopping area is also fun to check out (Harris Teeter, good restaurants) |
Nike Run Club app has a 14-week half marathon guide if he ends up wanting train solo. |
How much does the coach.com charge for the purses? |
Purses? Do you mean courses? I pay $50 a session but my coach and I took it offline so I pay him $50 a week. He sends me running goals and is there for unlimited advice. |
Where is they located? A running store like Fleet Feet has running clubs that meet and do runs. Here is a link to an example:

Here is another store location for fleet feet that offers more structured training. https://www.fleetfeet.com/s/dc/training |
