Some one implied I’m pregnant tonight

Anonymous
And I’m not. Ugh before kids I never carried weight in my middle but now it’s so hard to get rid of that little pouch. I was wearing a really unflattering outfit but I feel so down. I had done a pretty intense workout class this morning and eaten healthy all day and now I want to go eat ice cream. Ugh I guess I better go the other direction and make a big push before summer- I really didn’t think I looked bad these days!

This is in them and only them. People who have made it into adulthood and think they should comment on people’s bodies are the rude ones.

Carrying weight in your stomach is normal. It’s ok. Don’t let one person’s social awkwardness ruin your day. Tummies are just part of life. It goes on.

Take it as a reminder to keep going to that class.

People really need to shut it before implying someone is/looks pregnant. I've had someone ask me if I was pregnant (I was wearing a baggy dress at the time), and I've assumed other people were pregnant because of a round tummy. Even if someone thinks it, they should never say it. They're just as likely to be wrong than to be right. I have the pooch too. My mother had it and she weighed 100 pounds. Sometimes it's genetic. Please don't beat yourself up about it. Keep going with your healthy eating and exercise. Don't let the comment knock you off your path to being a healthier you.

Like all mothers in my family, I have a pouch too. It's genetics.

This is OP. Thanks for the kind comments. This has never happened to me before (aside from once when I was very recently postpartum and frankly looked pregnant still so I didn’t really feel offended) and I’ve been fatter in the past. So I guess it got me down. Me on a relatively good day looks pregnant.
Ahhh. Will try to shake it off but I am really struggling to let it go.

I'm sorry OP. I'm waiting for someone to say it to me especially because of how many losses I've had. I don't mind teaching someone a lesson - ask if I'm pregnant and I'll tell you all the horrible things that have happened to me in the past 1.5 years.

I feel you OP. I recently lost 40 pounds and had been feeling really good about myself. I posted a picture of my family on FB and it was not a super flattering picture of myself. A “friend” who is one of those MLM weight loss coaches (who never comments on my posts) private messaged me to say hi after the picture was posted. I know she just wanted to rope me into her unhealthy, expensive diet crap. I was first humiliated, but ultimately just pissed.

Are you sure it was the weight? Someone said that to me once because I was going to a lot of doctors' appointments and wasn't drinking / they saw me drinking a ginger ale. I was actually getting over a cold.

Stomachs are not supposed to be flat.

Tell us what you were wearing at the time. Some tops, while loose, can be too flow-y. And, what did the person actually say to you?

I was wearing really poorly fitted jeans and a tee shirt that was pretty tight, tighter than I would normally (I was wearing a sweater over top and not planning to take it off but then the event got really hot). It was not a good look, I freely admit that. She apologized when I clarified I wasn’t pregnant; there was no confusion about what she meant.

Might be diastasis recti (separation of the abs) -- all pregnant women get it to some degree but some people have it more severe than others and don't heal well. Check out pelvic floor PT. It is possible to have a flat stomach after pregnancy but even the flattest stomachs are not quite the same -- mine is flat "resting" but I have a very pregnant look when I bloat even a little, like there's a stitch missing.

I say this kindly, you cannot have felt good about yourself wearing that. Keep doing what you’re doing and dress so that you feel good.

No, I didn’t feel great (was not planning to take off my top layer, like I said) but I did not think I looked pregnant. I probably need to throw away those jeans though.
