Does your kid like history? Unique volunteer opportunity in Alexandria

This is an absolutely great "hidden gem" opportunity:
Gadsby's Tavern in Old Town Alexandria has a junior docent program where kids in 4-6th grades dress in colonial costumes and give tours to museum visitors. It's a minimal time commitment (1-2 shifts per month), free, extremely well-run, and the kids learn a lot about colonial history. My DC did it for two years, then became a mentor docent, and now is a regular docent. (Added bonus: it looked great on her college and scholarship applications)
