Rockview Elementary in Kensington

Anonymous
Hello,

I was hoping that someone out there might have some information regarding Rockview Elementary school in Kensington, MD. My husband and I have a daughter who will be starting 2nd grade and a son who will be starting 1st grade in the fall. Any personal experience with this elementary school? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you haven't seen it, see its "Schools at a Glance" info from this site:

http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/

Also the school survey results:

http://sharedaccountability.mcpsprimetime.org/SurveyResults/

I find it helpful with the surveys to select the option of comparing to other schools in the district. (There you can see, for example, that Rock View parents think the principal is more accessible and responsible than parents in the district, on average, think their elementary school principal is. From the student survey: fewer Rock View kids on average think their bathrooms are kept clean and well supplied.)

Those Montgomery County sites should give you lots of info. In brief, though, based on test scores, greatschools.net gives Rock View a score of 6 out of 10, while several nearby public elementary schools score 9 out of 10: Viers Mill Elementary, Garrett Park Elementary, and Kensington Parkwood Elementary.
