| Especially for making oatmeal pancakes? |
| Avocado, but if it's for pancakes I'd just use butter. |
| grapeseed oil |
| I would use melted butter/ghee for pancakes. Or coconut oil. |
| Coconut oil |
| Avocado for neutral oil, coconut for a rich baking oil. I do coconut and/or grassfed butter for pancakes |
I thought coconut oil has the kind of fat that's bad for you. No? |
It is high in saturated fat but it is debatable whether it’s bad for you. Definitely fine for occasional cooking. I wouldn’t use it for everything. It’s very rich and gives a butter like quality so it’s great for baking. |
Why not ... just use butter then? |
| Coconut oil is bad for you. |
It’s horrible for you |
| Like PP said, butter. |
I use butter plenty too. I prefer coconut oil in muffins and it is also great in pancakes. Both are good but the op asked about oils |
I think it’s actually a little better than butter for pancakes because of the smoke point. I don’t know where to come down o the health issues versus butter but I figure it’s a different kind of bad so I might as well hedge my bets sometimes, since I eat a lot of butter otherwise. |
No no! No seed oils! |
