Do you keep your children's artwork from preschool/kindergarten/first grade?

We moved and then it's been a fast 2 years. Recently was emptying out a bin in the garage and alot of very cute school work was found. Part of me wants to keep it because I am sentimental but will I ever do anything with it? Will your child want to see it later?

They will want to see it and do what with it? Trash it. If you are nice, recycle it.

Take pictures of all of it, then toss it.

Take photos of the best pieces and toss them. Your kids will never be as sentimental about this stuff as their parents.

I give it a week and in the trash it goes unless it’s especially nice. My DS7 has done a handful of art pieces that I find pretty nice so I hold onto those with hopes of framing them in the future.

We hang up some nicer pieces and I keep some of the stuff. Each kid has a plastic box. They do like to look through it. As we get new stuff, I go through it occasionally and recycle some stuff. Now they are in 4th grade, the volume is less

I keep the best one of the grade. So they will have 12 when they go off to college. A fun amount to look through but not overwhelming.

I kept some things where they actually wrote something like in a journal. Some of those are fun to read later

I have a memory box for each child. I save only a few pieces of writing/artwork/other memorabilia per year. I think one small box is a good amount, more than that would be overwhelming.

I have two adult kids in their 40s. I have school stuff saved in a file box that they will get or can look at anytime they want.

I also have had about five pieces of their elementary school artwork framed and hanging in the house for years. A visitor just recently asked who did that cool picture hanging in the bathroom. They are unique and good quality, partly because my kids are artistic and partly because their art teacher was great, and I love looking at them.

Save 5 favorites from each year. That about 50 things by the end of elementary. My kids (in college) do not seem at all interested. Know that you are saving for you only.

My MIL saved all my DH's kids stuff, and then gave it to me when we married. What am I supposed to do with this stuff? I tossed it all because it was so much.

I have 1 large bin (from Target) for each child where I've put what I consider their important papers for them to review and keep or toss once they have their own homes. Everything from the first "person" they ever drew as toddlers, to report cards. ONE bin each, that's it.

I have one plastic file folder box per kid, labeled from K all the way through junior high. A professional organizer made them for me. I put a few things in there per year, including report cards, school pics, a few cards from birthday etc. In the end I feel like it's easy to manage / store.

Four times a year generally at the change of season, I have all kids go through their things to find what they want to keep and let go. It's a pattern in our small home that has helped us keep "stuff" from piling up.
