| I forgot I opened Feta about a week ago. Half is left in the brine and it's been refrigerated. It looks and smells fine. Is this ok to use today or will I make my family sick? |
| Totally fine |

The website stilltasty.com is a great resource. It has the FDA guidance on longevity of opened and unopened consumables. Here's their guid for Feta, in brine, opened. Good for 4-6weeks

| It will have green mold on it when it goes bad. |
+1 Cheese keeps till it's moldy. And even then, you can cut off the mold. It's all mold, really. |
| No, it has definitely gone bad. You can bring it to my house and I will discard it for you. |
| Thank you for the replies. I thought Feta was different than other cheeses but happy to hear! |
| If you get it in brine do you think it keeps better with the brine or do you drain the brine? |
Stays better in the brine. The salt water protects it from exposure to air, which dries it out and causes it to taste sour. |
| feta gets red slime mold wen it goes bad- if it is in brine it should be ok |
