I'd say the grocery store - the toddlers will never know they aren't 'designer' cupcakes

How about purchasing cake mix, cupcake pans, and paper cupcake holders, eggs, oil and betty crocker icing? You can make 2 dozen cupcakes for far less than buying a "cheap" box of them. If you have time to post here you have time to bake cupcakes for your child.

Actually posting takes about 1 minute and baking cupcakes, waiting for them to cool and then icing them takes a good 2-3 hours. Nice try though, PP. YOU could always make them for the OP since you seem to have so much time on your hands.

i don't think that 11 02 has been to the grocery store lately.
no way buying all that is cheaper than 2 dozens of cupcakes.

Harris Teeter has great ones. Also Randolph's Bakery in Lee Heights - about 1.50 each for the plainer ones.

Safeway on Lee Highway (the one near CherryDale) has a large bakery that often has cupcakes. Kids don't need designer cupcakes.

I do find making them to be pretty easy IF you have time to make them and let them cool. But you also need a container large enough to put them all in. So sometimes the darn box they come in is worth the extra cost of buying them made.

Does your daycare allowed cupcakes that aren't packaged w/ ingredient lists? That must be nice! Ours is militant about the cupcakes being in a sealed package with the ingredients listed on them. Allergy concerns of course.

Same here. I used to make them myself (okay one time I did because he wanted Elmos on them!) but now they are adament about being in store packaging with all ingredients labeled. So, bye bye Betty Crocker....

cant you just bring the labels of the ingredients you used?

My son hates Georgetown cupcake (the cream cheese based frosting they use is not a big hit with a lot of kids). He much prefers Safeway.

However, in his preschool I always brought in the mini-cupcakes from Whole Foods. The teachers appreciated it and so did the parents...not having as much mess, frosting, sugar, etc.

My son's other school does not even allow any frosting..so we do the brownie bites.

We did the mini-cupcakes from Whole Foods when DHs attempt to make cupcakes went bad (he forgot the water and they did not rise). They were a great size for the kids.

I know at ours you couldn't. They specifically requested sealed, from a store w/ an ingredient list.
