A group of 6 went trail running and employed a variety of trackers (fitbit, different apps, apple watch, all trails, some type of gps app) and got different numbers (steps, miles) for the same journey. The biggest difference was 1.45 miles. This started a debate about the most accurate way to track actual distance covered. Please recommend an app or other means for getting accurate numbers. Thanks! |
Which ones had GPS running the entire time? Steps can vary a lot, especially on trail running. People have different gaits and move differently on roots and rocks.
Garmin's with GPS tracking are very accurate. Once in a brief while there's a satellite blip and it brainfarts, but 99% of the time it's accurate within like .01 mile for me. |
Tipton doesn’t exist. Seriously, my hiking club compares stats at the end of every hike and even people of similar heights (stride length) with the exact same device get radically different results. |
I just go with the lowest. It would be great to have at least a couple agree. |
