| Our tween DS has a massive overbite and our dentist recommended seeing an orthodontist. I feel like I don't really know where to start and don't want to over or under treat it. Thanks! |

Get 3 opinions, double check what your insurance covers, and go from there.

This. Ask friends where they took their kids. Start shopping around. |
|
So your teen has a massive overbite and a responsible parent would take them to the orthodontist.
Shocking revelation for you, I suppose! |
What do you mean where to start? You go to an orthodontist and get a couple of opinions. Come on! |
Thanks, I think I'm just overthinking it, lol. |
Embarrassing. |
I meant if there's some sort of list of best orthodontists, but apparently I'm getting started by getting dragged on DCUM! |
You never asked that and you can look it up or ask your dentist. |
| What is the average cost for braces? After paying $4200 for round 1 expander, I was quoted $7200 for a round 2 of braces. Is this the going rate? |
| I wish I’d known how much having them taken off would hurt. DD was in so much pain. Glad I knew to book her for a teeth cleaning immediately after that though. Her teeth were filthy! |
| Did the overbite just develop? All the kids I’ve known with noticeable problems were referred to an ortho by 7-8. |
It was previously minor, and each time we asked before the dentist said we should wait to see an orthodontist. Yesterday the dentist said DC needs to go to an orthodontist. |
Thanks, any tips for dealing with the pain? |
| I don’t really think there is anything special you need to know. Ask your dentist what orthodontist they recommend and go. Assuming you trust and value your dentist’s opinion |
