Awful headache, happens around the same time each day

Anonymous
Lately (past week or two?) I've been getting a bad headache for a few hours. It starts in the late afternoon (3-4pm?) and continues until 8-9pm.
I thought it was just a caffeine headache at first, but even if I have a soda early in the day the headaches still happen.
Maybe I'm not drinking enough water?
I normally only have 1 soda (or a coffee) per day, so I don't know what's going on. Any ideas?

Low blood sugar? ... maybe you need to eat something right around (or a little before) it starts?

Thank you! that could very well be it.

Coffee has way more caffeine than soda. Are the headaches on the days you drink only soda?

Not sure. I haven't been keeping tabs on it enough. I'll have to start looking more carefully at it.
They aren't stopping me from working. Just a dull, bothersome ache

Drink more water! If I don't stay hydrated enough to keep my pee clear (i.e., not more than the slightest bit yellow), I get terrible headaches in the afternoon. Check your pee and adjust accordingly.

I have had success with acupuncture when I am getting a headache at the same time of day each day. (Also when waking up at the same time of night each night.)

Late in the day it is often related to blood pressure or blood sugar for me; if it's been happening mostly since we've had the high humidity and thunderstorms you may also be reacting to the weather changes.

I would suggest that you slowly reduce your caffeine intake and maybe eliminate it. It might be your body wanting more caffeine. Or you're dehydrated.

I drink one and only one cup of coffee a day. And yet, if I miss it, I will have a headache by 3 PM. This happened to me last week when I accidentally bought decaf. It's hard to believe that one cup could have that effect, but it does for me and I'm no lightweight. I used to drink about 5-6 cups a day.
