MS Magnet lottery second round

DC was put in the lottery pools, but not selected to the magnet programs. I think the deadline to accept for the kids selected in the first round was Feb 10th. Any idea when subsequent lotteries will be held?

They are held as needed, and you only find out if you get in -- I would imagine they have already been held for the people who turned down a lottery slot in the initial lottery.

I would not assume that at all. Typically, MCPS does big batches of draws rather than doing them ad hoc. This saves time and energy, and lets them focus on one level (CES, MS, HS) at a time.

In past years, there's been a new lottery around Spring Break, and then one early in the summer.

What makes you think there is a "lottery pull". That makes it sound very organized. OP, I'd call and be a squeaky wheel. They don't care at all about appeals, so, I wouldn't worry about those kids. They are not "ahead" of your kid.

The appeal is available for people who didn’t make it into the lottery pool. If you win the appeal, you are placed in the lottery pool.

You can appeal if you were wrongly excluded from he pool, but there is no appeal for not being randomly selected. Those are just the breaks.
