Ughhh my work pants are feeling super tight and I’m at that stage where I need to size up or make a concerted effort to reduce size. 4 kids, late 40s, size 10 and don’t want to go up to size 12☹️ any advice, encouragement? |
No advice, but right there with ya. Mid 40s with 2 kids, but otherwise the same.
I really don't want to go on an overly restrictive diet. I already eat pretty healthfully and get a decent amount of physical activity. I vacillate between really not wanting to size up ... And thinking that size 12 is still a very reasonable and healthy weight, and can still look awesome if I dress appropriately for it. I'm also pretty tall, 5'8", which helps. |
Actually, I'd encourage wearing dresses, they are more forgiving on sizes if they aren't super structured.
And then work on losing the extra weight. it is difficult. I KNOW. I'm working on the covid weight gain right now. Use the size 10 pants as a barometer to where your weight is. When they fit well you'll know you are at a good size for you. |
You probably only need to lose a few pounds for the pants to fit again. I would do that before buying bigger pants. Cut your calories by about 500 a day, add some walks to your routine, and you will be back in your pants within a month. AND you will feel better. |
This was happening to me and I buckled down after New Years and my clothes are fitting better now. Sometimes just a few days of eating cleaner makes a difference because you drop some bloat/water retention. |
If you need something that fits while you could get some stretchy work pants. I have the Spanx perfect wide-leg pant and they are flattering and stretchy. They would definitely accommodate a few extra pounds in either direction. |
My closet is filled with size 8, size 10 and size 6 clothing.
I mostly wear the 8s, when I start to need to go up to the 10s, I consciously diet. I am happiest about my looks in the 6s, but years of yo-yo dieting has my metabolism shot, and it takes so much work for me to get back to those size 6 clothes. Even when I get there, it is tough to stay there |
Cabbage soup and wear fitted pants around the house as well. That would be the opposite of "wear dresses and stretchy pants".
You are very close to your desired size, this is way to stay in check. |
Ha. I said wear dresses, and I stand by that for work. Being uncomfortable and self conscious at work sucks. No thanks. For being around the house, though, wearing those tight pants maybe can motivate you to not eat?? |
OP please don't drink cabbage soup, that's extreme and temporary weight loss crap.
Calorie count. Limit to 1500 per day, increase your steps and you will lose 1-2 lbs per wk |
You have a three-day weekend. Start stuffing your face now, and by tuesday you'll be size 12. If you really apply yourself - and the cookies - you can do it. I believe in you! |
Ouch why the meanness? |
