Infertility Support and Discussion
| Anyone have two miscarriages in a row and then a successful pregnancy? If so what were the reasons for the miscarriage. I am seeing a RE now. So far, I have no blood clotting disorders or thyroid problems. I am going to have the x ray done of my utererus next. |

OP, I have not had the successful pregnancy yet, but wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. We had two miscarriages in a row and have gone through all the tests you've had...thus far the problem we've found is I have a hormone imbalance which is creating poor ovulation and possibly lower progesterone levels.
I am starting injection therapy which will help create better quality eggs, and more of them, thereby increasing my progesterone levels. We're opting with the IUI option...not that we need it, DH SA was great, I just want to up our chances. Did they do any testing on your husband? |
| Yes, I had two miscarriages in a row and then a sucessful pregnancy. First, so sorry you are going through this. Second, unfortunately, many times there is not an easy answer to why. Glad to hear you are going to an RE, it is important to get a full work up to make sure there is nothing identifiable that can be corrected. And they should monitor you from the begining of your next pregnancy which is helpful and reassuring. Good luck! |

| Sorry for the double responses above! |
| A friend of mine (really I'm better friends with her husband) had two miscarriages and then two successful pregnancies. I'm not sure of all the specifics surrounding the explanation of the miscarriages, but my friend (the husband) told me that she needed to take more folic acid -- I assume she was taking prenatals, but I think she then took a higher dose of folic acid. |

Yes - I did. Had 3 in fact after TTC 4 years 2 with fertility treatments, one without and that one was twins - ended up finding out I was still PG after I didn't miscarry and they checked before saying I should have a D&C. No immune issues showed up. I was in my mid-30s by the time I got and stayed pg.
So, it does happen. Good luck! |

Poster number two - I would love to talk with you offline. It sounds like we may have the same issue. No, the doctor did not test my husband - he said the chances of it being my husband was very small.
Do you have any problems getting pregnant? |

OP, this is poster #2. Feel free to email me at amyowus@hotmail.com...I would be happy to speak with you.
To answer your question...we did not have trouble getting pregnant, it's staying that way. A little more history...got pregnant by accident in 10/09. While on BC...MC at 5 weeks. Took 3 months for period to return. In that time started seeing an RE. When period did arrive they put me on Bravelle injections, HCG trigger, then timed intercourse. It was exhausting after two months and we thought, let’s try it again on our own…well we got pregnant. I miscarried at 8 weeks. RE thinks I really need the meds to ovulate correctly and produce a good egg. All testing on the fetus came back normal…so it’s definitely me that’s the problem. We’re waiting until August and starting the treatment. I would love to discuss with you further, just shoot me an email ? |
| Hi just tried to email you and it didn't work. |

OP I am going through my second miscarriage now too. Having D&C on Friday. I would like to talk to you and second poster too.
I do have one daughter. My ob did bloodwork the first week in May and it showed I had high FSH. She referred me to RE, and I had a consult mid-May. Found out I was pregnant the day after, so they couldn't do the bloodwork again and test for other stuff to confirm the original FHS diagnosis. I saw a hb at 6 weeks but no hb earlier this week. Last time it was a missed miscarriage diagnosed at 11 weeks. Reading the second poster I wonder if my high FSH is indicative of poor ovulation... so again, would love to talk to both of you. |

| Yes, I did. I had a few simple tests after m/c no. 2 but there was nothing wrong. I just put it down to me being in my late 30's and my eggs being a bit old. My ob/gyn thought that it could be a very mild clotting issue that didn't show up in the tests so he put me on baby aspirin for the duration of my pregnancy. DC is now a very lively 2 year old. |
| My mom had two m/c and then three successful pregnancies. No cause determined for m/c. A friend of mine also had two m/c and then two successful pregnancies - also undermined. I thought two m/c, while tragic, is not necessarily indicative of a problem, only after 3 or more? If it matters, mom was late 20s, friend was early 30s when they had their m/cs. Good luck OP! |
| I have had 2 miscarriages and am now 35 weeks into what is shaping up to be a successful pregnancy. Fingers crossed. My 2 losses were early 2nd trimester and chalked up to "a fluke." I wish you the best of luck. I know how hard it is to go thru. |
