Made a hotel reservation with Advanced Purchase. Now we have to cancel...

5 star resort- 1 month out (spring break) and we have to cancel our trip for a few different reasons I won't get into.

I would love to get our money back instead of rebooking for another time. Am I totally screwed? Any insights? Totally my fault for wanting to save $4k on the Advanced Purchase, but do I have any chance here?

It's tough. You can try, but most likely the best you'll get is a rebook

Maybe rebook then give it to your friend at a discoujnted price?

$4 thousand is a lot of money! They gave you that big a discount because you were promising not to cancel...and now you want to cancel. Sorry, they are within their rights to not refund.

Not sure there is anything to do as that is the whole point of advanced purchase (unless you have traveler’s insurance).

Maybe call and see if they will let you reschedule

It is worth asking, but n guarantees. You could also ask your credit card company to intervene ( hopefully you did not pay with check or cash)

Advanced purchase usually has no refunds. Hence the reason for cancel for any reason insurance.

Buyer beware and caveat emptor.

The resort should not offer refunds or a chance for another date.

Your best best was to buy travel insurance, but at this point, I’d be pushing for a rebook. Decent chance you’ll get that.

They might not even let you rebook. Either way, you are out the money. This is why people buy trip insurance.

I did this once I believe on Priceline. Called the hotel and explained my circumstances. A cancelled flight (cancelled by airline). They returned my money

You had to have a username to post in the old "Explicit relationship" forum. So that tells you where this user has been...

You had to have a username to post in the old "Explicit relationship" forum. So that tells you where this user has been...


There are other reasons people have user names. For a brief time, there was a separate political forum that you could only post in if you had a user name.
Some posters create a user name if they want to be able to edit their posts or be contacted (like parents who are seeking a nanny posting an ad.)
There have been several posters with memorable user names--Muslima, NannyDeb, PenguinSix. I don't think they were posting in explicit...

Also the soccer forum requires a registered Username. it appears that the poster here has posted in the soccer forum.
