Recommend your bread machine

Anonymous
My DH would like a breadmaker for Father's Day. Reading all the on-line reviews drove me crazy! The two I'm looking at are the Breadman TR2700 and the Zojirushi BBCCX20. Does anyone have either of these machines? Pros and cons would be appreciated. He has never baked bread before, so ease of use is high on list!

Thanks.

If you don't get any recommendations on either bread machine, maybe get him Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. It's less than $20, super easy, doesn't require a bunch of kneading time, and is a fun way to experiment with baking breads. A fresh artisan loaf is so tasty!

First time breadmaker here. Just got a West Bend Hi-Rise Breadmaker 41300. So easy to use...just dump everything in and turn it on. Great bakery smell throughout the house. I've made about 10 loaves now and they've all turned out great!

We've had a Breadman for about five years and really like it.

I completely agree with this! I chose not to buy a bread machine and love making breads with this book.

Ditto. Bought this one for my DH for his bday in February and we've loved it!

Zojirushi is supposed to be the best. I have one and love it (I can't speak for the other brands).

OP, can you please let us know if there were any cons to your purchase? I'm looking at a bread machine for my husband, and this is the only thread I found on DCUM.

Thanks!

OP here. DH LOVES it. We use it all the time to make bread and pizza dough. It performs beautifully (we did have one "explosion" of dough but I think it was because we used bad yeast!) and turns out great bread and pizzas.

DH spends lots of time experimenting with mixtures of different types of flours to get different results - and that's half the fun.

Good luck! It's a great machine.

This seems a bit expensive (for me at least the Zojirushi BBCCX20.) However, can you make banana bread, breads with fruit, nuts, vegetables? Then it might be worth it. How big are the loaves? can you make more than one loaf?

TIA.
