Please help me plan my itinerary with kids - 5 days in Muscat, Oman

Anonymous
Days one and five are travel days.

Hotel advice? Looking at the Shangri-la Barr al Jissah (the most kid-friendly one when you google) as well as the Grand Hyatt (which seems to pop up consistently).

I'll be solo with my 8yo. My brother and SIL and their 10 yo will be travelling with me.

What are some things you loved in and around Muscat and the surrounding areas? (We will also be doing a camping excursion outside Dubai later in the trip, so we don't have to lean in too much on the desert excursions during our time in Muscat).

Thank you for any advice or attraction suggestions!

I have friends who have lived in Oman for the past few years (they work for an international organization) and they love it. It’s safe, has amazing culture and architecture. Enjoy your trip OP!

Take a day cruise to see the ophialites.

Leave the kids at home. They’ll be miserable.

Why? I hear Oman is an amazing travel destination. (Not OP).

One of my favorite trips. It was just so different. We went snorkeling. Also took the bus to see wadis and turtles. Such a cool country!

It is amazing. Ignore.

What time of the year are you going? My spouse was there during active duty military service and found it to be extremely, extremely hot, hot, hot.

Very, very uncomfortably hot.

So, I would definitely think about and plan for the heat. And this is coming from someone who hates the cold/winter.

Make sure to visit the mountains, and also arrange for fishing boat tour, and wadi hiking. You’ll enjoy it!
