Of course kids should be allowed open carry

“While it may be intuitive that a 14-year-old has no legitimate purpose, it doesn’t actually mean that they’re going to harm someone. We don’t know that yet,”

So says Republican Missouri State Representative Tony Lovasco. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/missouri-votes-against-children-carrying-guns_n_63e71736e4b022eb3e305904

Children are NOT adults. They do not have the same level of brain development, the same level of emotional control, the same ability to control impulses, or the same ability to consider long-term consequences of their actions as the average adult. Think about how many bad decisions you made in middle and high school. Think of the mind-bending arguments your kids have tried on you. Now consider the quote by Tony Lovasco.

My son could handle a weapon responsibly at 14, heck he could at 12.

You sound proud of him. What an odd thing to be proud of. You know we're not living in the Wild West anymore, right?

It has nothing to do with being able to handle a gun. The issue is whether any young person should be allowed to walk around in public with a gun, even an AR.

Make sure they don't bring it to any campaign events as hypocrite Desantis and probably every other candidate prefers.

Good. If you are going to own weapons, it is absolutely critical that your children know how to responsibly handle one.

The bigger question about kids is their decision making and impulse control, not whether they know how to shoot people. Though I’m sure in your sons case his decision making couldn’t be any worse than yours.

My kid could drive the car at age 10. Responsibly. He should be allowed to drive.

Same. My older son built his first “black rifle” at 12. His younger brother, ever the rival, insisted on building his first at 11. They both later became Eagle Scouts. Now one is a Midshipman 2, and his older brother is in his last year of Seminary and will be Ordained in 2024.

yes, and because of this, any random kid should be allowed to carry. definitely if there exists one kid that can handle a gun responsibly, all can. it is just plain logic

For every one person who's actually been trained and knows how to shoot and knows how to handle a gun safely and responsibly there are dozens of people who own guns but are complete dufuses who had little or no training.
