| We have a small kitchen and not a lot of space. We’ve never owned a toaster oven. Our toaster is on its last leg. We use it maybe 18 times a year, tops. We are considering a toaster oven this time around instead. But tell me about them. Will we miss the ease of a toaster? (I know this sounds ridiculous!) Is it easy to make a couple slices of toast in a TO? I think our tweens would like it for things like Hot Pockets or other little finger foods, so we didn’t have to heat up the oven for a snack. Sell me on one or the other! |
| Breville Smart oven is a must! |
No. NO! Do not do this. The stupid wirecutter made me buy this and it makes a horrible, horrible buzzing noise. Not while it’s running, while it’s “off” but still plugged in. My husband couldn’t hear it so it’s some high frequency but it sucks. And of course then I actually looked at the reviews and mine was not defective, they all do this. I had to box the cursed thing back up and return it. Save yourself. |
| A countertop oven is convenient for lots of things and we use ours all the time - but a toaster makes toast. If you want toast, get a toaster. |
| If all you expect to use it for is toast, get a toaster. If you want something more multi-functional, then yes, it's pretty easy to make toast in a toaster oven. I also use mine to toast nuts, reheat a meal, broil a piece of salmon, etc. |
+100000000 I love all Breville I have bought |
I have two neither did this. |
| We got the breville combi and fire it up all the for small batches of things instead of our full oven. With teens, it sounds like you’d get a lot of use out if it. I don’t like that an oven lives on the counter and a toaster you can put away. |
My Breville has never buzzed. I love my Breville and it is worth every bit of counter space. I almost never use my full size oven these days. Even for toasting, it's better, because you can put things on your bread to melt while it's toasting (butter, cheese). |
I 100% believe you, PP, but this sounds like the start of a horror film. |
Is it the bigger one or the smaller one? The one that buzzed was the smaller one. The many reviews saying the same thing convinced me I’m not crazy. My husband could not hear it at all, but it was really loud so he definitely couldn’t hear it because of frequency or whatever and not volume. |
| I haven’t used my regular oven since I got the Breville toaster oven on Black Friday |
| Another one for the Breville Smart Oven. I use it to bake muffins, bread, pies, toast bread and bagels, roast veggies, and air fry salmon and potatoes. It heats up super fast--I rarely use my full-size oven. |
| We have this one and love it. DH bought it as-is/ returned so the toaster pop-up has never worked but it’s still a great space saver. I love toaster ovens for everything except toast so it’s good to have the dedicated toaster. |
Not sure — it’s not the biggest one they make. I have sensitive hearing for things like that, so I would it if it were buzzing. |
