Mid year report

Anonymous
Dc’s college counselor filled out the mid year report and sent to all colleges using his first quarter grades. Applications are marked complete. First quarter grades have actually turned out better than first semester grades. If the counselor does nothing to update the form, will colleges reach out to request first semester grades or just use the first quarter grades already reported?

Last year, most of my kid’s colleges reached out to her about semester grades although they had first quarter grades. Probably varies.

Schools asked for first quarter AND first semester grades. To us it makes sense, they want to ensure they are still on track and no major changes.

How do you know the counselor used the first quarter grades for mid-year report?

For regular decision applications, do colleges ask for first quarter grades? I thought they only ask for first semester grades for regular decision applications. Does anyone know for sure?

The first semester grades have just been released this week. The mid term report was completed for ED school (deferral) but sent to all colleges. Obviously the deferral school will want the first semester grades. I’m just wondering about everywhere else.

Only ED or EA schools usually ask for first quarter grades. Regular decision usually ask for first semester.

This is actually really helpful. It’s why I’m wondering if it would be better not to send everywhere and wait to see who asks. First semester grades are not disastrous but dropped a little from first quarter.

We nearly missed the deadline to hand in semester grades for Georgetown. DS asked his counselor whether his MCPS school sent in grades automatically, since he had to send them a list of colleges before that to send transcripts to, but it turned out that he had to fill out another form and that it would take several days for semester grades to be sent out.

So please be aware of the possible delays you'll encounter with your school's administration. Large overcrowded publics are probably worse than privates in this regard.

EA - deferred school asked for both first quarter and first semester grades.
ED - asked for first semester grades
2 already accepted asked for first-semester grades.
