Just wondering if anyone has any information about this or has experienced this. If so please share ![]() |
I think it depends on which school you are referring to. For instance, Sidwell only places a small number of kids on their waiting list unlike most of the other schools where it seems everyone is on it (excpet the ones who were initially accepted). Also, each school has different "growth" years. Beauvoir fills 3 classes at Pre-K and only 1 at K. Even though nearly all of the K spots are supposed to be for non-siblings, that still only leaves roughly about 10 new slots for boys and 10 for girls. Sidwell adds more kids at K. |
You definitely can't get in if you don't apply, so if you are still interested in attending, you need to apply. Worst case you still don't get in, which is the same as your current situation. At least they know you're very interested if you apply two years in a row. Thats something. |
Sidwell's waitlist is a real waitlist though no one (except Pollyanna, yeah right) says no. Beauvoir's waitlist is also real and you can get off. GDS watilists everyone so don't take it too seriously. Remember all schools accept one or two more than they can really fit because they know that one or two families may say no, but that does not mean they then move to the waitlist.
As for whether applying a second time helps...no, probably not. It shows the school you are interested but if your child's application is not any stronger than it was last year, then no, probably not. HTH |
PP or anyone that can provide insight: Please explain what you mean by Sidwell and Beauvoir have a real waitlist? |
The students they place on the waitlist are students they would have accepted if they had available slots and they go down the list to fill up spaces if they get a no from children who were offered spots. |
