Recommend Daily Multi-vitamin for Husband

Anonymous
I'm trying to get my husband to be healthier. He's in good shape, but does not pay any attention to his diet. I thought that a good multi-vitamin might not be a bad idea. Can you recommend a good daily multi-vitamin?

I would use something simple like One a Day Men's Health or the generic equivalents. They are like standard multivitamins, but they emphasize vitamins that are good for heart health and don't go heavy on the iron, which is counterproductive in men unless they are performance athletes or anemic.

If your husband has some concerns about prostate health, you might want to look for vitamins that target prostate health, although I am unfamiliar with that because it's not in our family history.

I would not go for megadoses of any vitamin or unnecessary herbal supplements. If you want to go beyond a straight multivitamin, consider a fish oil supplement. The jury is out on whether a daily fish oil supplement is enough to make a difference in your health, but I personally take it because fish oil has little downside and at my age I can't wait another ten years for the definitive studies to get completed.
