Puppies are azzholez!

I'm fostering a litter now. It's interesting to see their development. A little while ago, mom=food+warmth. Now at 6 weeks, they're realizing that mom can mean comfort and reassurance other than food and warmth. Same for me. Before, I was something handing down mushy kibble from above. Now, they realize they can come up to me and ask for pets, and get them, and that it feels nice. Their world is just opening up, and the ones who will adopt them at 8 weeks will play a critical role in shaping their life view.

But yes, for puppies and babies, it's all about what they can get. It takes a while for them to give back.

This is a great post! Thank you, PP.

Puppies take, take, take for a while until they give.

They are definitely cute. They are cute because they are azzholez. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I've known my puppy since birth and she's always had a streak of azzhole. I follow a subreddit about puppies it's so depressing, so much puppy blues out there. But also, I see a light at the end of the tunnel with naughty behaviors they'll grow out of.

Did you know they have a huge regression during adolescence (start any time between six and 12 months and can end between 18 and 24 months)? Yikes.

My biggest issue right now is feeling I might ruin her for life if I don't train her exactly the right way at all times. I forget that I've "rescued" older dogs and they've all adapted and learned.

Oh, yes. I know. Haha!

I have two dogs, and they are both great as adults. But, absolutely, they were both complete and total azzholez as puppies. Both of them!

I’m convinced that’s why puppies are so irresistibly cute.

I totally feel this! We have a 4.5 month old lab who is so cute, but can also be such a jerk face sometimes!

Example: She has at least 5 chews strewn around the downstairs. The 12 year old terrier had the audacity to take one chew and she stood and barked at him.

When i had a six-year-old dog, I got my puppy. I got two of the same damn toys to keep things fair. My older dog wanted whatever the pup had.

Every time.

β€œIt’s the same damn toy you have, Bella!”

Maybe it’s not just puppies. Maybe it’s all dogs. 🀣
