| How was Blair’s SMAC admitted students night? |
| What do you want to know? The parents and kids got to tour separately and find out about elements of the program. Kid liked it. Seemed very intense to me. |
| It was amazing! The teachers were enthusiastic and energetic, and the students so friendly and smart. The course offerings are both deep and broad, and it’s clear that teachers are happy to help students pursue non-class interests through other means, such as clubs. I feel so lucky that my DC can be a part of this program. |
We loved it! We split up into groups by colors and attended presentations, the kids were on their own grouped by colors too. It was such a welcoming atmosphere and the teachers enthusiasm for their subject and the program was palpable. My kid had already responded to the invitation but if we had been hesitant, this would have convinced us! |
| Anyone decide it was not for their child? Are you going to decline? |
We didn’t go last night because DD has already decided to decline. We have a kid currently in the program and it is great for the right kid, but very intense. |
As we were leaving I noticed about 10 folders that hadn’t been picked up. Some or all of those could be declines. My DC at TPMS knows of two people who are choosing RMIB over Blair SMACS. |
| My child is undecided but leaning strongly toward Blair. Has more open houses to attend before making a final decision. |
Quite some kids from our school didn’t have time to go last night and I know they will all go. Some girls will choose RMIB over Blair. Non-magnet school. Btw, they invited way more than 100 in the first round, I think that’s why you don’t see any movement in waitlist though a lot of reclines because they already considered buffers. |
The magnet coordinator said yesterday they had invited right around 100 kids. I assumed he wasn’t lying. |
| This is correct. He used language like “just over” and it surprised me because the yield must be close to 100%. |
