| My pregnancy test is scheduled for 11 days post transfer but I though that the reason most pregnancy tests are taken a while after conception is that the embryo needs a while to travel through the fallopian tubes. I thought implantation only take 2-3 days plus another day or two for the body to build hcg. Any thoughts? Will at-home tests be inaccurate before then? |
| A home test MIGHT work around 5 days post transfer. But the clinic wants to give you a definitive answer (yes or no) so they don't want a maybe. So they wait until it will be pretty clear. |
| Maybe they have learned from past experience? False negatives if too early, false positives if the pregnancy doesn't truly take. |
| You could but I would want the actual HCG numbers which will help you know more quickly if its viable or not |
|
If you were given hCG, it will trigger an early false positive on the pregnancy test.
Implantation occurs most frequently at 9 dpo, but the window is anywhere from 6 to 12 dpo. HCG is produced after implantation. Blood work will of course be more sensitive than a dip stick. |

11 dpt (even for 3dt) is crazy long. Is this Shady Grove? Most other clinics don't wait that long.
|
OP here, yes it is shady grove. 10 days would fall on a weekend, so I imagine that is part of it, but even that seemed long to me. |
+1 I've heard of some people testing every day post transfer in order to see when the HCG is finally gone (so you'd see positives for several days, then negatives showing that the HGC was out, and then if you saw a positive later on you'd know it was real). I didn't do that (I was at SGF). I just waited. It's really hard, but you just try to distract yourself as best you can. |

I am using a frozen embryo so I did not inject any hcg. I used progesterone and estrace. Maybe the policy of waiting 11 days is just to stay consistent with folks who use fresh embryos, in which case I might get an accurate read after 5 days or so? I know I should be more patient regardless but waiting is hard

too early and the hcg value isn't predictive of much. at 11dpt, you can get lots of good info.

| Most people test at home beforehand. I had clear positives both times at 8d post 5dt |

I used a frozen embryo and did inject HCG. That being said I did test at home first. Faint positive 4 days post a 6 day transfer which became more clearly positive a few days later. |
| Mine didn’t. I called as soon as I got a bfp and they did a first beta. |
I always start testing at home at the equivalent of 11dpo (8dp3dt). The clinics I've used test on the equivalent of 14dpo. |
|
I always test at home and had clear positives from 4dp6dt.
I didnt have a beta until 8dp6dt and it was 49. I was shocked as my tests were dark. The RE told me 50 was their cutoff but because I came in at 530am that day I could have been 50 a few hours later so they kept me on meds. Everything doubled or tripled every 48 hours for a other 4 draws (!!) and then we saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks. She just turned 1 last week. So I understand clinics waiting. If i had gone in for my fist hcg at 10 or 11dp6dt there wouldbt have been any worry as my numbers were high enough by then. |
