Has anyone here shopped at the Fresh Market and had issues with stale food?

I very occasionally go to the Fresh Market. Twice I’ve accidentally purchased very expired food. The first time was potato chips that when I got home I found they were expired by 3 weeks. Today I purchased licorice and it expired in October 2022. The cashier asked if I wanted to see if it was just a fluke but the entire shelf of licorice had the same expiration date in October. Couldn’t believe that one. I won’t be back but has anyone else had a problem with their stores? It seems they clearly have a staffing and inventory turn issue.

Yes happened to me as well.

i do not shop there anymore

Never noticed that. I shop there often. But I can’t imagine that licorice tastes different after expiration and would doubt anything different about chips as well.

The licorice was 4 months expired. Gross.

I shop at the one in Alexandria occasionally and haven't had that issue. I've had that problem at Safeway so now I always check the dates on things there.

I haven't experienced that but it is disappointing considering their high prices.

Yes, this has happened to me many times. I now only buy a very few items there and check each date before purchase.

Also beware in Target on Rock Pike. I went there twice recently. There was expired sour cream in the dairy section. Luckily I caught it. I purchased some Quaker granola and discovered when I got him the expiration was in 5 days. Not enough help at stores checking expirations.

Noticed this at Safeway in Potomac too...

Double check all dates all the time now...

I have experienced it at Safeway, Giant, Wegmans, etc. you always have to check the dates.

On baked goods only get stuff put out that day.

We have shopped at the Alexandria one consistently since it opened. Yes there is a lot of expired food we have come across and moldy and rotting produce.
over the years as it has built up a regular shopping base it has got better. They also have got better at removing stuff people don’t buy and sticking with what people do buy. It’s funny to watch the evolution of stores like this - same things happened at whole foods - they start of stocking all this super woke products people love the idea of but don’t actually purchase until they are clearanced out and to be replaced with standard products people really do want to buy
