I enjoy watching horror movies a few times a year just to feel something different and it does not usually impact me negatively. This movie… was the most terrifying and masterful movie i have seen in this genre in a long time. I really do not recommend it if you are usually scared of horror movies. I could not sleep well for 2 days after watching it and cursed all the sounds my house was making like when i was a teenager! Anyway, just wanted to suggest to those that like the genre.
What was the scariest movie you’ve seen? |
| I agree Hereditary was excellent. Very unsettling. |
This movie was unusually disturbing. I didn't even slightly enjoy it. |
| Extremely scary. Makes you feel all that supernatural bullshit can be true on some level when your brain tells you they are not. Insane movie |
|
I didn't think it was scary. I was really disappointed. I like Toni Collette.
The grandson was the demon king? And the dead grandmother was a demon queen? I just thought it was so stupid in the tree house. |
|
The Hills Have Eyes was grotesque scary.
"Eyes Without a Face" was black and white classic scary. "Freaks" was also classic scary. I guess I can't be scared by movies anymore. |
| I haven’t seen the movie the OP mentioned, but I hated the movie FRESH. So disturbing. I’m not a fan of scary movies, but Silence of The Lambs still gives me nightmares. |
| Rob Zombie's horror trilogy is scary. |
|
That was the one with the telephone pole, correct?
The movie Mother was along the same lines. disturbing and uncomfortable |
| Directed by the same person who directed "Midsommer." I thought Midsommer was pretty good. I detect a dislike of older people, though, from the director. |
|
I am watching it again for the 2nd time on HBO.
Anyone care to explain what this movie is about? |
Same director but I did not like Midsommar at all. |
| As disturbing as it is I love Hereditary. I saw it for the first time last year (I think based on a DCUM rec) and must have watched it another 5 or 6 times since. The performances are amazing but it’s also the details that elevate the movie. I pick up something new every time I watch it. |
| I know people don’t generally love M. Night Shyamalan anymore. But “The Visit” was soooooo good and scary. Like super well done |
I still like him for his plot twists. I liked "Old." |
