My 15 month only went from dropping her morning nap to dropping all naps. I have older kids that napped until kindergarten.
Honestly, dropping all naps would help as I always feel tied to home in the afternoon on weekends. She sleeps 12+ hours a night. Should I just power through the afternoon grumpiness and end all naps? |
| No. It’s way too early to drop it. Try putting them down around 11:30am. |
| Definitely not. It’s legit important for their brain development and would be very rare to not need it at this age |
| Way too early. It's probably a regression or teething. Keep napping! |
| All three of my kids went on a nap strike at some point, but I powered through and they all went back to napping. I think all of them napped consistently then until at least 3.5, and would nap about half the time until 5. |
| Too early. Our youngest stopped napping around 2.5 and even that felt very early! |
|
OP back. My older two napped until 5
The youngest has been screaming in her crib for 90 min. Just standing there not wanting to sleep. For those with the regressions, just keep powering through the screams? Do I ever get her out? She’s not dirty and was fed a good lunch. |
Just power through. She’ll be fine. |
| When she naps, does she still go down for the night at a reasonable hour? We dropped naps when my oldest DD turned two. When she napped, she wouldn’t fall asleep until 10 or 11 at night. She got more sleep overall after dropping naps. |
I’ve always powered through for a week or so and if still resisting, push nap time a little later (like by 20-30 mins) and my kid goes back to napping. We’ve had a few regressions since dropping to one nap a year and a half ago. But naptime has just evolved from 12ish to 1:30-3:30 as he’s gotten older. Still happily napping with no signs of dropping anytime soon. |

Well after screaming for 3 hours in her crib I caved and got her. I’m weak.
She goes down at 6:30/45 and sleeps until about 6:30am. This has been happening for weeks. Daycare says she naps but I’m not sure I believe them. |
| 5 seems late to me unless your kids have a late bedtime. I’m pro a nap at 15 mos but 3 hours of screaming is crazy. I’d maybe let it go for an hour then give up but do a very early bedtime. |
| Are you wearing her out on the weekends. I know it’s cold but go outside as much as you can. |
|
Well they napped intermittently at 5 as they were in daycare still and had a two hour nap time.
And we try to wear her out. Outside by 7am most weekends, even today when it was 15 degrees! Maybe I’m not doing enough to truly wear her out. Should we be swimming most weekends? Having her walk the mile to the coffee shop as opposed to ride in the stroller? She was obviously a bit of a surprise and I feel like I have forgotten how to parent a baby now toddler. |
| What is everyone else doing during nap time? If there is too much activity, she might have FOMO. |
