Are we lived till we are 100 years old+?

Are you saving money for when you're over 100 years old?


My 401k will dry up when I am 95 years old. Then I have about 5 years of savings in my other account, then I am not sure if I should sell my house or rent it out and move to an old folks home.

Do you have plans on what will when you're in your high 90s or 100s?

I guess I will ask my daughter to take care of me when I am 107, I did take care of her for 19+ years and give her $70,000 dollars for the downpayment of the house and a lot more money.

Keep in mind that if you live into your 90s or 100s your kids could predecease you.

Not really, because I am a fed with a pension. I will have money coming in until I die. Also, adding my thrift to that, there’s no law that says I have to spend it all; I just have to withdraw the money. You could reinvest what is not spent into another account. So save enough money that you have too much for you current expenses, so you have a cushion.

We will still have our social security income and currently have over 100k in stocks, not sure how much that will be in 2060 but might or might not enough for about 3000 monthly that will last us for 5 years or so.

You can get a reverse mortgage. If you are 90 and your house is paid off you can get a loan for around 70 percent of your house value and you don’t have to pay it back until you leave the house.

Life expectancy started to decline in 2019 to 2020.

I'm 59 and am not prepared to fund 30 years of retirement and don't expect that to be an issue. In the unlikely event that I should live so long, I'll be living on whatever is left of Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare.
