is being off by $1000 acceptable on taxes?

I make over 1000$ dollars on Sports betting last year, and they never mailed me a W2G, but I can view it online, what happens if I accidently forget to enter it?

The IRS will send you a notice with interest and penalties for not reporting the income.

Report the income.

Report it.

If a w2g was generated, it was almost definitely sent to the IRS. So they already know about it and you should report it on your return.

The IRS will recalculate your return and send you a bill.

So many places notify you that it’s available and you go to website and print.

Of course you are fully liable.

Go to the website and print it.

Penalties and interest for not paying are huge.

Lol I wish it worked like that! My job doesn’t send a physical W2, just makes it available in our HR portal. Wish I didn’t have to pay taxes on that.

They did send it to the irs so the irs will just say you forgot it and give you less of a refund or charge you taxes on the extra $1000

Are employers penalized for not reporting W-2s to the IRS? What happens if an employee files taxes but there's no corresponding W-2 on record with the IRS from the employer?

More importantly...what did you bet on ?
