I’m too tired to play with my kid

Anonymous
Just came back from a funeral. Was away from home for one day. I know the minute DD(4) walks through the door, she’s going to want to play. I’m just so, so tired. If I say no, she’s going to whine and cry. I’ll feel guilty either way. I feel like crying. I just want a break.

I'm sorry it's a rough week. For what it's worth, my kid was willing to play "nap," which involved me lying on the couch and her tucking me in, bringing me stuffies, etc.

This is when we play spa and kid is the owner! Mom is the customer. She can brush your hair, pretend to give you both a mani and pedi. Don't forget the lotion to rub your hands and feet! Its play but you get to just ....be!

sounds like an occasion to snuggle under a down blanket and watch Disney movies with popcorn. Quality Time.

I thought I was the only one who did this. Sometimes I ask my kid if she wants to play hair salon just because I love the feeling of someone playing with my hair. It's so relaxing. I do her hair too and I think it's nice bonding time. But I definitely suggest it for me more than for her.

When you have two kids its even better - you do a foot rub competition. You lay back with eyes closed so its a fair judging of said foot rubs. Each kid gets one foot. Inevitably they need to win 2/3 because you just can't decide after the first rub.
