Did we already discuss this? I tried to scroll back and I didn’t see any posts on this topic yet.
I can go first: 2023 reading goals: -Read at least 24 books on my own (avg. of 2 books a month) -read one classic -read one book club book that I missed at the time -read a long book that I’ve been putting off -read a book I own that I haven’t read yet -read a book that has been on my To Read list for a LONG time (at least 5 years?) (At least 1 non fiction) (At least 1 book published in 2023) |
| Finish what I've started (this applies to longer fiction mostly) |
| While I have a reading goal in goodreads, I'm more interested in getting to some of the great books on my TBR. New releases make me excited and I need to chill. |
| I’d like to read 24 books as well. I have no rules. Anything that catches my fancy. |
|
My vague goals are to get to 40 or 50 this year, and I’d like to read more diverse (either non-white or non-US) authors.
But my real goal is to read the books already in my house and release them to the wild via little free libraries. |
| I want to read or listen to 35 books. I don't usually listen to audiobooks, but I got a Libby account and I want to start listening to them during commutes or when doing chores. So far, I've read 4, but haven't gotten through an audiobook yet (but the Walter Mosley book I'm listening to is pretty good). |

I’ve long had a goal of 24 books a year including one classic that I never read.
Warning: Faulkner and Dostoyevsky are not recommended to try on one’s own if you are not an English major type |
I was an English major and at the time I loved Faulkner and now I cannot deal with him at all, 30 years later. |
I'm absolutely not an English major and plan to read Crime and Punishment this winter. I hope you will hold my virtual hand through it! |
| I don’t know what new classic I’m going to read this year. I think Jane Eyre and Frankenstein are on the short list. |
One of my (successful) 2022 goals that I am going to carry forward is to read at least one book per month that I own. I have some serious shelf-clearing to do
I think I finished 14-15 in 2022 that I either had physical or Kindle copies. |
| Read books before bed, no phone, every night. |
I read The Counte of Monte Cristo last year and it was probably my favorite book of the year. (I also tackled War and Peace on audio last year - it was okay.) I was an English major, but had never read either. |
I’m reading “Animal Farm.” After suggesting it here, I reread “The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas.” In Brazil, it’s one of the few required books that students actually enjoy. |

Hi PP's! I read and liked the Count of Monte Cristo a LONG time ago. I read Animal Farm last year when my 7th grader was reading it! I didn't love it at the time but I still think of it with respect to politics today, so I think it was a worthwhile read.
I'll have to check out The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas! |
