| Alabama has been trying to promote itself as a center for industry and research, especially Birmingham. All these politicians coming out and saying he just liked young girls, nothing wrong with a man in his 30s dating teens, it’s the Bible model, etc., isn’t going to help Alabama market itself. The politicians there look like a bunch of backward fools—who would want to work with them?! |
No not Democrat style at all. What this ghastly thread shows is how hard it is for a woman to go up against a powerful predator. Unless you have tape or a witness to the assault it is hard to get justice in our legal system and your account and your motives will be questioned. What has happened in the case of Weinstein, Spacey, Louis CK etc. is that they have lost their careers so there is a form of justice for these women and hopefully a deterrent to future bad behavior. The talking point from the Moore campaign is that these women are part of some conspiracy (variously identified as Democrat, liberal media, Republican establishment). The "proof" is the timing of the story - just a few weeks out from the election. That is not credible however. The Washington Post has been in Alabama reporting on this Senate race and for the first time there is a lot of national scrutiny of Roy Moore who is running for one of the most powerful offices in our land. As they reported the story they heard many accounts of questionable behavior by Moore as he began his career as a DA and before he was married. They heard accounts of him dating teenage girls and associated behavior (trolling shopping malls, attending high school games, coaching high school girls teams etc) that sounded questionable given his dating proclivities. They asked around and that is what brought them to the four women who were willing to go on the record with their experiences. The reports of these four women were corroborated by 30 sources many of whom confirmed that these women told them the same story either at the time it happened or decades ago. It is a well reported and credible story. The accusers and the sources are mostly Republican and it also sounds like many are Trump voters. My question is why haven't the Alabama media been covering these stories as Roy Moore has risen in stature and power in his state? |

Republicans with some degree of integrity and principles:
John McCain Mike Lee Steve Daines Bob Corker Mitt Romney Larry Hogan Appalling. |
A woman who worked with Moore as a prosecutor is calling him out for dating teenagers and hanging out at the mall and high school football games. Eeeeewwwww. |
|
CNN had two Roy Moore supporters/surrogates on yesterday and they were so offputting. I hope these two men are not representative of Alabama politicians. It makes me admire the women who came forward even more.

| They are dragging Alabama’s reputation right down the drain. |
Why suddenly now and not before?? When did she work with him? Why did she say nothing before now? She's a Democrat, huh?

In Alabama, this is more about questioning the veracity of the story--and the timing--than defending Moore. Sure, there are a few idiots who defend it--but, most question its veracity.
I have some trouble with the story, myself. The only story which is really disturbing is from the woman who described the sexual encounter. If he did that, it seems likely he would have also done this with others--that's the way pedophiles work. The other three stories from the other women are more credible--and, while distasteful, do not rise to the level of her story. In the past--yes, 40 years ago, it was not unusual for a man in his thirties to marry an 18 year old. If you ever look at genealogy, you are likely to find that in your family tree. Do I like it or think it is a good thing? No. But, it was not unusual. A fourteen year old is a far different story, however. That's a dealbreaker--but, somehow, it just does not ring true. I don't like Moore and would not have voted for him. But, Alabama voters do not support the policies of Doug Jones(a good man) and that is a dilemma. Democrats voted for Bill Clinton when there were lots of stories out there about him. Stories that included sexual assault. Why did they vote for him? |
This list is way too short. Family values, my ass. |
Just like Moore - PP doesn’t deny the creepy behavior, just questions the motives of those reporting the facts. That’s how far these scum will go to defend a pedophile who admits doing it all (with maternal permission) so long as there is an R behind his name. |
|
There is only one accusation that he is a pedophile. You don't find that odd? Usually, there is a pattern.
And, no, it would not be at all unusual for a guy in a small town to go to high school football games. It would be perfectly normal--that's where most of the town would be on a Friday night. |
I saw that too. She was also a DA. |
That is a really, really strange defense. |
I’m guessing 7th and 8th graders might be a little intimidated to accuse the District Attorney of sexual abuse. |
