Then I'd work M-W or W-F.

+1. This is the way, OP. Maximize all of the days off school and work when everyone else in the office is most productive.

What are kid ages/activity commitments? Coparent/spouse schedule? By 3 full days do you mean "3 days of 8 consecutive hours of work" or do you mean "24 hours over the course of the day"?

For little kids, I'd do Tues-Thurs 6-2 so you can always do school pickup (partner does drop off Tues-Thurs at least).

For teens who want to spend weekends with friends/doing travel sports/etc I might do Tues, Thur, Sat or something depending on their activity schedules.

Above is my schedule and it’s great. 4 day weekends every weekend and easy to do 3-4 day weekend get always. Plus off beginning and end of the weekdays so less stress to start off the week and nice to be off at the end of the week.

To make the best decision you should factor in your family’s schedule and your objective. Like, if your DH can WFH on MF and you want to minimize childcare needs then you should work MF and one weekend day. But if you want to maximize family togetherness and travel then you should work TThF. Personally I would opt for the latter, if you have good childcare in place.

I work Mon, Tue, and Thu and I absolutely love it. Wouldn’t change a thing.

This. I used to work 3-day weeks and it was just lovely having the extra weekdays to do (errands, etc.) what would normally be much more stressful and time consuming.

I’m this PP. I personally didn’t want to work 3 days in a row. And this way I get the bulk of my work time in at the beginning of the week and still have Fridays off. I’m able to flex my days occasionally if I need to but it doesn’t happen very often. On a normal week I much prefer this to T/W/th

Op here. Thanks for input. I currently work 4 days a week Monday - Friday. Rotating weekend, usually once a month. Work days are between 8 and 12 hours and usually twice a week I'm not home until after 8 pm.

I previously did 5 days a week 9 to 6 but things were too hectic.

I also did overnight but felt like spouse and I missed each other.

With this position I can essentially pick my schedule it just needs to be at least 3 days and 8 to 12 hours. If I choose lower hours it would mean 4 days. I have to keep the schedule for at least 6; months.

Spouse is a regular 9 to 5 in person job. No weekends.

Our kid is small. We may try for another in the next 2 to 2 years.

I want to be able to do things like school drop off or pickup, family dinner and bedtime
