Can you take any summer school classes (for high school) while you are in middle, for credit ?

I asked our middle school's counselor about it, and was told that it's not an option of rising 8th graders. 8th graders going to a high school after the summer are allowed to take summer courses for credits. Not sure if it is true for all MCPS students.
