Need recommendations for full-day preschool/daycare in Silver Spring

Anonymous
We will be moving to the area and are looking for recommendations for childcare for our 2yo starting this summer. We both work so an actual daycare center probably makes the most sense but if there are fullday preschools that have an aftercare option until 5pm that could work too. I guess the general geographic range we could work with is Wheaton to downtown Silver Spring. Thanks in advance.

Karasik near Forest Glen is wonderful. I don’t know what the waitlist is like at the moment, but my child is very happy there. Hours are 7.30-5.30.

We are also at Karasik and love it there.

Use Maryland Locate to see providers on a map ( https://locatesearch.marylandfamilynetwork.org/ )

Use https://www.checkccmd.org/ to look up their licensing history.

Visit and ask for references.

The Kensington-Forest Glen Childcare Center, part of the Montgomery County Childcare Association, is excellent.

People also like Silver Spring Day School right across from Blair.

Benefit of Karasik is they have an infant program in case you have another kid.

I love Rock Creek Montessori but (1) no infant care and (2) they have a spring break and the month of August off, which requires “camp” that are an extra cost and hassle.

In Google look for chu chus daycare, kiddie academy, and there's a new Family Daycare in Woodside Park, their email is universalsprouts@gmail.com
Most Family Child care homes are open until 5:30pm-6pm.

We heard these centers are good too, karisik, kiddie academy, ymca

+1, with the caveat that their current lease is only through spring 2024 and there's a bit of uncertainty in regards to an extension. But perhaps that would be resolved by the time OP would get a spot, never hurts to get on the waitlist.

I've also heard good things about Circle Time and Karasik.

Yes, don't discount this benefit, much easier to get an infant spot there as a current family.

SSCCC starts at 2 year olds with full-time care - I believe there may be some two year old openings for the summer.

Another vote for Karasik. Waitlist can be a beast though, so if this one is even possibly on your list, get on the list quickly!
