I feel like when you think of East Coast Cities, it's Boston - NY - DC.
Philly is lots of fun but somehow seems to fall beneath the radar, despite being a pretty large and vibrant place. How come? |
Because it’s filthy and disgusting? |
I live there currently.
It has terrible public schools. Unlike DC, there are zero passable open-enrollment high schools. Taxes and crime are high. And so on. |
PP here. Lots to like, however. Great job market in my industry, happy with the public transit (buses & regional rail, the high speed rail is grotesque) and low COL. |
Armpit city OP. |
500+ shootings |
Confined to a couple neighborhoods |
Not a powerhouse economic engine, despite population size. More like Wilmington Baltimore providence and Richmond in that respect
So all of the violent crime and drug mecca drugs without the gonzo jobs and salaries. Great little restaurant upstarts though. And the museums. |
All of this. |
It's historic but dangerous and poorly run. We visited the center of town with the Bell and outdoor exhibit and there was a horrible smell of human feces. No thanks. |
Philly is the 6th Borough. It’s really part of the NYC metro; Philly is closer to NYC than parts of Long Island! https://www.phillymag.com/news/2013/12/16/new-york-times-still-thinks-sixth-borough/ |
Violet crime. Filthy-Delphia. |
Because it’s a hellhole full of Eagles fans. |
