Homeschool to private

Do kids that did homeschooling in middle school or online school have a chance at getting into the top independent schools for HS?

Considering doing an accredited online program (JHCTY, Stanford etc..) for my daughter who is very smart, and high achieving at an activity. But want her to have options for HS.

I think if DD is involved in activities where she has social contact and a coach or teacher from that activity can send a supplemental recommendation indicating that DD has appropriate social skills and can be a functioning member of a group, you should have as good a shot as anyone. But, without that, even with stellar grades and recs from the online teachers, I think it's a longer shot because the school has know way of knowing whether or not DD would be a good community member.

If you are full pay and your child is academically qualified, then yes.

For what it's worth, I don't think anyone in my kids' freshman grades was homeschooled for middle. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen--just not aware of it. Is she an elite athlete? Then maybe--you'd have to be able to communicate why homeschool was needed for MS, but won't be for HS.

Think you'd have a much better chance applying from a private k-8.
