Audiobook ONLY recommendations

I've given up on the ability to sit down and read a book at this point. Between fulltime jobs (that occasionally include night and weekend work), two kids with SN, and normal house projects my mind isn't still long enough to concentrate. I need to pair up audiobooks with exercise which is also difficult to fit in.

I was never an audiobook person, but I just finished Solito on audio and it was so good. I suspect even better than reading the print version. Please send recommendations for other books that are especially good or better on audio.

What do you like?
I really like memoirs read by the author and surpringly enjoyed Jeannette McCurdys I’m Glad my mother died.

Fiction:
Dutch House
Remarkably Bright Creatures

I just binged the Hamish MacBeth and Agatha Raisin series (by M.C. Beaton) on audiobook. They're perfect for listening while multitasking.

Just a heads up, this topic might be moved to the Book Club discussion.

OP, just a heads up that your post will probably get moved to the book club section of DCUM.

I listened to "Uncommon Type" about a year ago. It is a collection of short stories written by, and narrated by Tom Hanks.

I enjoyed it. I was thinking that a collection of short stories might be better for you since you said your ability to concentrate for long periods is shot.

I absolutely agree on the memoir read by the author. My favorites are the ones by Jessica Simpson, Richard Marx, and Katie Couric.

For fiction, Revival of Ned and Opal.

I really loved The Poet X as an audiobook, because the lyrical writing is beautiful read aloud. It’s YA but was so engaging on a road trip for me.

I agree with the memoir suggestion above. For example Stanley Tucci’s Taste was great, not because it was the best book ever (though it was good), but because I love him. Anything read by David Sedaris is also a good bet.

Some other audiobook faves:

The Nature Fix
Educated
How the Word is Passed

I haven’t listened to Harry Potter audiobooks yet, but I’ve heard they are very well done.

Any Tana French or Graham Norton—the stories suck you in and the readers’ Irish accents are hypnotic

The Dutch House—Tom Hank’s voice is so comforting

The Strike series by “ Robert Galbraith”

The Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton

Books by David Sedaris, Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey (other funny people who read their own books)

I don’t know what I’d do without audiobooks!

Not OP, but this sounds perfect and I’d never heard of it. Thanks!

One by One by Ruth Ware. I'm not normally a murder book person, but this one really pulled me in.

Remarkably Bright Creatures, like another PP said, is a fantastic audio book because of the animal’s narration.

Viola Davis’ memoir was great, narrated by her.
