| Did not hear from DS yet. He want to give me all the results (came today), in the late evening. |
| rejected.. very high stats kid in a magnet. OOS. |
Let me guess, applying for CS |
yes, deferred at MIT and Michigan. So an outright rejection at UIUC is a bit surprising, but then college admissions these days are a head scratcher. I know other kids with similar stats who got into Michigan engineering, though, not CS. |
UIUC is extremely competitive for CS and engineering. |
I know but deferred at MIT which is harder to get into than UIUC. Just weird. |
| Deferred. OOS. High stats. CS. |
| DD’s BF accepted OOS. Mechanical Engineering. |
| DS got in UIUC for computer science |
Congratulations! Can you share stats if you feel comfortable? Also EC? |
Admit rate for computer science last year was 6.7%: https://www.admissions.illinois.edu/apply/freshman/admit-rate Once you get to single digit admit rates, the results for where people are accepted can be all over the place (e.g. people that get into Harvard but rejected from USC, accepted at MIT but rejected at Berkeley, etc.). |
MIT deferrals are soft rejections. |
