yes, deferred at MIT and Michigan. So an outright rejection at UIUC is a bit surprising, but then college admissions these days are a head scratcher.

I know other kids with similar stats who got into Michigan engineering, though, not CS.

UIUC is extremely competitive for CS and engineering.

UIUC is extremely competitive for CS and engineering.

I know but deferred at MIT which is harder to get into than UIUC. Just weird.

Admit rate for computer science last year was 6.7%:

Once you get to single digit admit rates, the results for where people are accepted can be all over the place (e.g. people that get into Harvard but rejected from USC, accepted at MIT but rejected at Berkeley, etc.).

MIT deferrals are soft rejections.
