| Are you considered an alcoholic? mom has one every single night, says it relaxes her. Should I be concerned about this? |
| Just one? I wouldn’t be overly concerned. |
| It would be like if she was drinking a bud light or one 5 oz glass of wine a day. Would that concern you? |
| Drinking every single day of the week seems like a problem. |
It’s a single drink. It’s fine. |
no it's not normal |
It’s extremely normal. |
| Can’t that cause liver damage? Drinking every single day of your life? Even if it’s just one drink. |
Most of them are pretty low in alcohol. 4-5%. Hard liquor is 40% |
|
that's about the same. 4 - 5% of a 12 oz. drink vs. 40% of a 1.5 oz shot. i don't think one drink a day is a problem at all. |
Heavy alcohol consumption is defined for women as more than 7 drinks per week, so if mom drinks one hard seltzer per day, she can’t have a single drink more without veering into unhealthy territory. https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-health/overview-alcohol-consumption/moderate-binge-drinking |

| My husband and I each have a scotch every day. Very normal in my family. |
| A lot of hard seltzers are very low in alcohol. Is it great to drink one drink every day, probably not. But one can of hard seltzer is probably the “lightest” of drinks. My concern would be if it could slide into more. |
