Please recommend a company to clean a 9x12 wool rug

We are placing it in a new nursery so I would not want any harsh chemicals.
Looking for a place close to Bethesda/Rockville area.
What is the approximate cost usually?
Thank you

Ayoub carpet in Kensington. They just use laundry detergent I think. Decline any and all treatments and coatings. Idk exactly but probably $300? You might get a little break if they’re picking up/dropping off more than one.

Why not just rent a rug doctor (I actually heard the Bessel green machine was better) and DYI? Use a little soap and water.

This works, as long as you manage to only get the top of the rug wet (not hard to do, just move relatively quickly). Assuming a rug pad and good ventilation you can do this without hurting your floors and it will remove a lot of dirt from the top of the rug. But if you send the rug out to be washed, they’ll get it fully wet and soapy and then rinse it. It’s just a deeper, more thorough cleaning. They have giant spinning tubes to remove most of the water and then they hang them to dry in rooms with big fans for several days. With a small rug, you can maybe replicate that at a car wash. But wet rugs are super, super heavy and without the spinner you have to wait forever for them to dry.

I strongly recommend this Ayoub: https://www.rugcare.com/ There are several different companies in the area with the same name. They're based in NoVa but will pick up and deliver all over the DMV. I've used them for everything from antique carpets to normal rugs to onsite cleaning of wall-to-wall and they've been great every time.

Another vote for Ayoub in Kensington -- we've had great success with them cleaning several different wool rugs. Pick up and delivery has been great.
