I have gained weight recently but was too nervous to look. I finally did, and I gained ten lbs since weaning my second six months ago. I had previously been back at my pre-pregnancy weight, which was unfortunately already overweight (weight after my first pregnancy/weaning I could never keep off.)
Has anyone been in this position? What worked to lose it? I’m not eating more than I was. I guess asking if this is more complicated than cutting out refined carbs and snacks. |
| How have you successfully lost weight in the past? Do that. |
| I gained weight after weaning my second, though not after weaning my first. You’ll lose it (or not) the same way you’d lose weight gained for any reason! Sorry to not be more helpful. I haven’t managed to lose mine yet but I am sure if I exercised more and drank less wine, I would. |

Yep. Gained 15 lbs when I weaned my second. I was underweight while Being DD2, so 5 lbs would have been okay, but that 10 was not hot.
It took me a very long time to lose those 10 lbs, I will be honest. I had to count calories, take a hard look at my diet and habits, and really cut alcohol. That helped, but I had some injuries that I needed to deal with before I could start really working out again. Once I was able to start running again, the rest of the weight slowly came off. My youngest is now 5 and I am in great shape. But it took five years... |
| when you say you are not eating more, do you mean not more than before weaning or not more than before pregnancy? I was basically pregnant or nursing for over three years straight at one point and it took a long time to get used to eating normal portions when I was done using a bunch of my calories to nourish another human being. I realized I no longer needed to have the same serving size as my much taller DH at dinner. So changing the portion sizes helped a lot but it took a while to figure out that I needed to. |
