Moby Dick — Bethesda

Anonymous
We used to order from Moby Dick pretty often and thought it was quite good, but the last time we ordered — about 6 months ago — it was awful. If you’ve ordered recently from Moby Dick in Bethesda, how was the food?

Ordered from there right before Xmas and it was good

Had it a week ago and it was great.

Thanks, all, for your reassuring responses restoring my faith in Moby -- and DCUM! We ordered from Moby last night and it was just as delicious as ever!

We really enjoy it, but was so disappointed to learn via their website that they use canola oil (instead of olive oil) in their dishes along with artificial food colorings. I had previously considered them a more healthy takeout food option.

We have found the quality of the food has gone down. The bread used to be so good and has gotten really tasteless. The Potomac store is particularly bad.

It always seems as the chains grow larger, the quality of the food goes down.

The only thing that is still really good is there hummus.

You are insane. Who eats hummus at Persian restaurant (hint, hummus is not Persian)?? The sangak (bread baked on stones) is still the best.

They used to make the bread in house, now it is delivered. Definitely worse.

Now that they've posted the ingredients you'll see they are using red dye and other dyes instead of saffron - so disappointing!

The food has definitely gone downhill.

You also get less or their carry out containers have shrunk.
The Shady Grove location burned the ends of my kabobs tonight. Didn’t notice til I got home.

So you only eat what is specific to that culture at a restaurant even if they may make the dish really well?

Many reviewers on line have posted similar complaints about the quality of the food going down.

We love thier food but were sad this week when our Uber Eats driver delivered us someone else's MD order and then took off like a shot so we couldn't work it out. Uber Eats gave us a refund 3 hours later but we were left with only food we didn't order...totally not MD's fault, however. I must say the hummus was great - thanks to the random people for ordering it!!
