Currently have a toaster and use it for roasting bread and waffles regularly. Once it dies and needs to replace wondering if I should replace it with a toaster oven. I have 2 elementary age kids if that matters |
I vote toaster oven. I have a Breville and use it daily for all sorts of things. |
I love my toaster oven. I can reheat leftover meat, cook frozen chicken or French fries, toast sandwich rolls, roast vegetables, etc. |
We use our toaster oven (brevill mini oven) daily. But I still go for the toaster when I want a great piece of toast. If I had to choose, it's toaster oven all the way. |
Love the toaster oven . Our most made item in it is toast with melty cheese on top. |
As long as you have the counter space for it, definitely a toaster oven.
In addition to toasting breads and reheating some leftovers, I like having a smaller oven. There are times that I've baked dinner or a dinner side in the toaster oven and don't have to heat up the big oven and waste energy. I can make a roll of refrigerator crescent rolls or freezer biscuits without heating up the big oven. We bake small individual pizzas without heating up the big oven. We use it a lot of baking small quantities and it's really nice to have the option. |
I use the Breville significantly more often than I use my actual oven - it heats much faster plus has a wider temperature range.
It’s a slight downgrade from a toaster for toast (at least in terms of speed) but so worth it for everything else it can do. |
Toaster oven |
My toaster oven holds a 9x9 pyrex. I use it all the time for baking' |
Toaster oven for all the reasons everyone else said. Ours is convection as well as regular. |
I can make lasagna and other oven-baked dishes in my toaster oven. I find this incredible, not having to use my regular oven. Toaster oven all the way. (We have a Breville, which we bought so long ago but works great!) |
Team toaster oven!
|
And consider getting a multi-function one. There are toaster/microwave/air-fryer combos |
We used the toaster oven almost daily. We have a super fancy one that even rotisseries. It is a godsend in summer when you don’t want to heat up the whole kitchen. |
I used to be very anti-toaster oven because when I was in my 20s my roommate at the time had one, and it took forever to toast something.
Flashforward to a few years ago and our regular toaster died, and we pulled out from storage a cheap toaster oven that was still new in the box that someone gave us for our wedding. I reluctantly agreed to use it instead of buying a toaster, and I actually really like it. It toasts things in a reasonable amount of time, and I like it for other things like heating up a small number of chicken nuggets for my kids. It is also great for crisping up refrigerated bacon! My one complaint is that it is pretty hard to keep clean. |
