We saw A Man Called Otto yesterday. It was fine, predictable, okay story.
Last night on Prime, we watched the original A Man Called Ove. If you can handle the subtitles, it is much better! |
| ok |
| Thanks OP. I had heard the original was better but didn’t realize it was on prime |
| The original was so good. This is yet another example of a movie being remade that does not in any way need to be remade. |
A Man Called Ove is great. A Man Called Otto is hideous, all the hateful racist stereotypes in one simple package. We were disgusted -- 2023!!!! |
Can you give some examples? I'm usually sensitive to stuff like you mentioned but I didn't walk away with the same feelings you did. |
| That’s at least the second foreign film Tom Hanks has ruined by remaking it. |
He’s become such a stodgy actor. Remember when he was funny? |
He was great as the manipulative manager in Elvis … |
|
I thought Man Called Otto was delightful. Also saw the original Swedish version, which also was delightful. There is room for both in my movie-watching world.
|
| Even better, read the book. It’s excellent! |
And the 25th film he ruined just by being in it. |
THIS. Or audiobook, which is a wonderful performance. |
| Agree OP! I see nearly every movie that comes out in the theater. Hanks + the movie were bad. Swedish version was miles better. |
