A Man Called Otto

We saw A Man Called Otto yesterday. It was fine, predictable, okay story.

Last night on Prime, we watched the original A Man Called Ove.

If you can handle the subtitles, it is much better!

Thanks OP. I had heard the original was better but didn’t realize it was on prime

The original was so good. This is yet another example of a movie being remade that does not in any way need to be remade.

A Man Called Ove is great.

A Man Called Otto is hideous, all the hateful racist stereotypes in one simple package. We were disgusted -- 2023!!!!

Can you give some examples? I'm usually sensitive to stuff like you mentioned but I didn't walk away with the same feelings you did.

That’s at least the second foreign film Tom Hanks has ruined by remaking it.

He was great as the manipulative manager in Elvis …

I thought Man Called Otto was delightful. Also saw the original Swedish version, which also was delightful. There is room for both in my movie-watching world.

Even better, read the book. It’s excellent!

And the 25th film he ruined just by being in it.

Agree OP! I see nearly every movie that comes out in the theater. Hanks + the movie were bad. Swedish version was miles better.
