| In the last 2 weeks two different people I know have mentioned that they are about to get abdominoplasty to remove “excess skin” after weight loss. I looked it up and it seems like it’s super painful and a long recovery, but the after photos look great. I’d love to hear more about the procedure from people who’ve had it done. How long ago did you do it? Was it post-major weight loss? Post pregnancy? Something else? How bad was recovery? Are you happy with the results? |

Depends on a million factors. Biggest is probably whether you need a full or mini, and whether or not you need muscle repair or just skin removal. My sister did full with muscle repair after major weight loss, and she had surgical drains and was out of commission for a solid 4 weeks before returning to even light activity and driving.
I had a mini that was just skin removal, and I had it done on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday and back at full unrestricted activity in about 2-3 weeks. |

I had a full body lift (so tummy tuck and all the way around, including muscle repair). I had arm lifts done at the same time. It was about 10 hours of surgery. The surgical drains were annoying and gross but I was able to work from home within the week. Move slowly and it's fine. Roughly the same as my 2 c sections.
I had lost nearly 150 lbs, so something like 10 lbs of skin was removed. Maybe more, I don't remember. |
How bad is your scar after the mini lift? Did they reposition your belly button? Did you not have any loose skin above belly button at all? |
