Credit card fraud scam

Anonymous
I got a call today ostensibly from AmEx. They had details on my account (including my most recent payment) and said they were calling about a questionable charge ($1200 at a Walmart in NY.) I bought the story and gave them my full credit card number and the last 4 of my SSN. I know better but they had some information, like my most recent payment, that made it seem credible.

I got suspicious and called AmEx from a separate line - which clarified that this was a scam. I cancelled my AmEx card immediately and put a fraud alert and freeze on my credit report. Is there anything else I can/should do to keep this from morphing into something worse? Thanks!!

Go to Experian & other credit rating companies and lock your credit rating. Get credit monitoring from one of them. Some credit card companies (like Capitol One) offer credit monitoring.

Maybe change your phone number on your accounts if you use mobile for 2 factor authentication.
