Likes math but hates science: what majors could she look into?

Anonymous
What are some majors that make money (not teacher) for students who like math but don't like science? Student is very bright taking Precalc with trig honors in 9th grade. However, she is awkward (autistic and aloof) so maybe not a good fit for finance/business school. She loves to code but dislikes science so that rules our CS/engineering. Help with ideas please.

My comp sci degree didn’t involve science—it was all programming.

What about actuarial science, economics, or pure math?

Applied math with an eye towards economics, risk management, data science, and CS too. She might have to suffer through a science class or two; she'll survive.

Insurance, actuary

Actuary, accounting, math (you probably figured that one out)

I think CS and computer engineering are very different and she might find a CS program she likes.

See if she also likes statistics. If she does, this could give her more options.

I was the same as a teenager - loved math, hated science.

I have a CS degree.

Data science (more math/engineering than pure science), Math (pure or applied), Statistics, Computer Science. All sorts of lucrative careers you can do with any of these. And there's plenty people on the spectrum in many of those careers.

Economics

However, if awkwardness is as big an issue as you make it to be, she will always be limited in terms of making money.

I deal with actuaries through my work, this seems like a good fit

Computer Science and Data Science. Neither require natural sciences like physics, chemistry, etc. They are essentially offshoots of mathematics, known as formal sciences.

+1 on computer science, data science, actuarial science.

My son is the same -- loves math and statistics, hates science. He took the highest math available at his HS but never even took honors level sciences. He's at Virginia Tech majoring in Computational Modeling and Data Analytics, which is the undergraduate major in their Academy of Data Science. It's a mix of CS and stats/applied math. https://data.science.vt.edu/

How did you get through the gen ed science requirements in college, like chemistry?
