The used car market has collapsed. Lots of options out there. We have a well maintained 13 year old Venza we're trying to sell and no serious inquiries in 2 weeks. We've done this twice before and its always been easy. If you did a private sale recently, what worked?

For Sale sign in the car. With all the stats printed on a sheet of paper. Also taped to the inside glass. Best if it can be legally parked somewhere with a fair amount of traffic.
+1 worked for us |
Whatever u do don’t let them drive away with lic plates on it. Exposing this up front before they come to get the car. They can put their cars plates on it to get to the dmv or figure it out themselves.
“ your lic plates”
Why bother with a private sale if carmax, carvana, vroom pay almost the same but without the hassle? It only makes sense if you have a rare car that is not well priced by kbb. Or if you are hoping to hide something from the buyer
I just sold at carmax. Easy peasy. Happy with what I got.
If you end up listing on a site, get ready for all the scammers to contact you. Get a throwaway gmail account/google voice number to use. People will contact you immediately asking you for vehicle reports from a seemingly legit site that you have to pay $25 for. Or they will offer to send you a check, but it’s for $5k more than the price of the car, so can you wire them the difference? So many scams out there. That being said, we listed and sold our car for more than what car max offered by listing on a local site. When they come to look at the car, agree to meet at the police station parking lot - it’s reassuring for both seller and buyer.
Police station parking lot? Lol
